Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking values-aligned board members who want to contribute time, expertise, and relationships to help a small, ambitious nonprofit scale.
Prior board experience is welcome but not required. We especially encourage candidates with experience in:

Finance/accounting (Treasurer)

Governance/operations (Secretary)

Fundraising/individual giving (Development)

Grant writing and reporting (Grants)

Legal, compliance, or risk management

Corporate partnerships and sponsorships

Program evaluation, education, or community engagement

Marketing/communications (digital, PR, email)
Priority Roles (Immediate Needs)
Treasurer / Finance Lead
Help strengthen budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls; support 990 readiness and responsible growth.
Secretary / Governance Lead
Support board operations, meeting minutes, compliance checklists, conflict-of-interest documentation, and onboarding.
Development / Fundraising Lead
Help build a sustainable fundraising engine (donors, sponsorships, campaigns) and support board-led relationship development.
Grants Chair
Help manage a grant calendar, proposal pipeline, and reporting—building a disciplined system that supports long-term stability.
What Board Service Looks Like

Meeting cadence: 1 board meeting per month (60–90 minutes)
-
Committee work: 1 committee (30–60 minutes/month)

Event participation: attend key openings/programs when possible
-
Term: 1–2 years (flexible as we build)

Give/Get: we ask board members to make an annual personal contribution that is meaningful for them, and to help open doors for funding and partnerships

Board members help SlipStitch:

Pay artists through talks, workshops, fabrication, and exhibition contracts

Produce accessible public programs that reduce barriers to participation

Build partnerships that drive neighborhood foot traffic and shared storytelling

Grow a diversified revenue model (grants, donations, sponsorships, earned revenue)

Track impact with clear metrics and transparent reporting

About SlipStitch
SlipStitch Studio is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art gallery and cultural organization based in Georgetown (Seattle). We produce artist-centered exhibitions and community programs that expand opportunity for BIPOC and underrepresented artists, strengthen neighborhood partnerships, and make socially contextual contemporary art accessible to the public.
We’re building a working board that helps us grow sustainably—so artists are paid fairly, programs stay accessible, and our community impact is measurable and accountable.
