SlipStitch Studio: A Post-Contemporary Collectors Gallery

SlipStitch Studio is a post-contemporary art gallery focused on serving the "investor" in art, not simply the "buyer." We specialize in established international, national, and regional artists working in the post-contemporary idiom from 1989 to the present day. Our curatorial philosophy centers around the "Why" behind the art: exploring the artist's intent, medium choices, and how their work contributes to building a better future through creative expression. We cater to sophisticated collectors seeking to build their portfolios with meaningful, impactful art that transcends current trends and anticipates future aesthetic values.

Mission Statement:

We aim to connect discerning art investors with exceptional post-contemporary art that transcends existing boundaries, embraces new technologies, and offers long-term value appreciation. We champion artists whose work demonstrates a profound "why," reflecting their unique perspectives and contributions to shaping a more universal and transformative aesthetic experience.

We differentiate ourselves through our focus on:

  • Curatorial Vision: We prioritize art with a strong narrative and conceptual foundation, emphasizing the artist's "Why" – their motivation, medium choices, and how their work contributes to a post-contemporary vision. This focus allows us to offer collectors pieces with lasting significance and investment potential, reflecting a forward-looking perspective.

  • Target Audience: We specifically target art investors – individuals and institutions seeking to build and diversify their collections with high-quality post-contemporary art. We understand their needs for due diligence, market analysis, and long-term value appreciation.

  • Artist Representation: From 1989 to the present, we have worked with established international, national, and regional artists, focusing on those whose careers demonstrate consistent growth, critical acclaim, and engagement with post-contemporary themes.

  • Transparency and Education: We provide comprehensive information about the artists, their work, and the market context, with a particular emphasis on the post-contemporary aesthetic and its potential for future growth. We aim to educate our clients, empowering them to make informed investment decisions.

SlipStitch Studio: a space dedicated to experimentation, exploration, and creation. It’s more than a physical space; it’s an environment where ideas are nurtured and transformed into visual expressions. SlipStitch Studio functions as a sanctuary for innovation, where artists delve deeply into their thoughts, materials, and processes to bring their visions to life. A facilitator of all these elements within a dedicated environment that encourages the artist’s growth fosters creative freedom and provides the tools necessary for bringing their vision to life. It is where the conceptual meets the tangible, giving form to ideas that speak to broader audiences and often serve as a catalyst for cultural and societal dialogue.

We acknowledge that the city of Seattle and its greenspaces are on stolen Coast Salish land, specifically the ancestral land of the Duwamish, Suquamish, Stillaguamish, and Muckleshoot People. We recognize the stewardship of Seattle’s greenspaces by the Coast Salish people since time immemorial, the disruption of this work by colonization, and now endeavor to continue this work.
