イベントについて

Led by Visual Artist Peter Hristoff, "Inventory Drawing" is a unique, liberating session encouraging participants to create up to 75 drawings in one sitting. Inspired by Hristoff's approach honed at The School of Visual Arts, NY, it aims to free artists from self-imposed constraints, fostering joyful, open drawing. Prompted by the poetry of C.P. Cavafy, Giorgos Seferis, and Sappho, attendees work from imagination, layering images to form implied narratives. Timed at about a minute each, this non-stop drawing session cultivates fearless drawing, regardless of skill level, complementing Hristoff's exhibition at SlipStitch Studio.

Suggested supplies:

  • Loose sheets of paper, approximately 100 sheets per session per participant (such as a package of white 8.5 x 11” cardstock or better quality (heavier) photocopy paper; working on rice-paper scrolls and creating “endless drawings” can be considered; a sketchbook can also work.
  • Any drawing media that creates a smooth, soft line; recommended: 4, 5, or 6 B pencils; soft Blackwing Pencils,
  • Ebony Pencils, Lyra Brand graphite crayon in 6 or 9B.
  • Feel free to use color (pencils, markers, etc.)

  • No erasers, as there are no mistakes.

SlipStitch Studio: a space dedicated to experimentation, exploration, and creation. It’s more than a physical space; it’s an environment where ideas are nurtured and transformed into visual expressions. SlipStitch Studio functions as a sanctuary for innovation, where artists delve deeply into their thoughts, materials, and processes to bring their visions to life. A facilitator of all these elements within a dedicated environment that encourages the artist’s growth, fosters creative freedom, and provides the tools necessary for bringing their vision to life. It is where the conceptual meets the tangible, giving form to ideas that speak to broader audiences and often serve as a catalyst for cultural and societal dialogue.

We acknowledge that the city of Seattle and its greenspaces are on stolen Coast Salish land, specifically the ancestral land of the Duwamish, Suquamish, Stillaguamish, and Muckleshoot People. We recognize the stewardship of Seattle’s greenspaces by the Coast Salish people since time immemorial, the disruption of this work by colonization, and now endeavor to continue this work.
